Central Zone continue to dominate after Marshall's ton on day 2 in BCL

Walton Central Zone finished the first inning with 529 runs against BCB North Zone on the 2nd day in the 4th round of the four-day Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura on Wednesday, reports UNB.

Central Zone resumed the first innings on the day with overnight score of 249/3 in 90 overs and added 280 off 84.1 overs more for the cost of seven wickets where overnight batsman Marshall Ayub hit 132 off 210 balls, including 14 boundaries and one six, before being caught Junaid Siddique off Ariful Haque on their team collection at 433/7 in 150.1 overs.

M Ayub shared a 108 off 37-over partnership innings with Tanbir Hayder (46 off 116b; 5x4) in the 6th wicket to carry the team collection to 366/6 in 129 overs, starting from 258/5 in 92 overs, before Tanbir was lbw by Sunzamul Islam.

Number-8 batsman Mosharraf Hossain (83* off 131b; 13x4) was another big hitters on the day while another overnight batsman and skipper Mahmudullah Riyad was out for 26 runs.

Ariful Haque got four wickets for 79 runs while Shoriful Islam (2/96), Sunzamul Islam (2/127) and Farhad Reza (1/68) shared five wickets in the innings.

BCB North Zone opened the innings on the day and played one over, delivered by Abu Hider, with no collection. Mizanur Rahman (0*) and Junaid Siddique (0*) were at the crease when the bails were drawn for the second day.

Earlier on day one, centurion Shadman Islam (107 off 239b; 9x4) shared a partnership of 200 off 77 overs with Saif Hassan (94off 243b; 12x4; 1x6) in the innings opening stand.

Meanwhile, Islami Bank East Zone were trailing by 308 runs in the first innings against Prime Bank South Zone after the 2nd day of the four-day 4th round match of the 6th Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

In reply to Prime Bank South Zone's 403 runs in the first innings, Islami Bank East Zone scored 95 for 3 in 33 overs after the 2nd day's play.

Prime Bank South Zone resumed the first innings in the morning with overnight score of 299 for 7 featuring 130 runs by veteran all-rounder Tushar Imran and were all out for 403 runs in 104.4 overs, despite 63 and unbeaten 44 runs by two lower order batsmen Delwar Hossain and Nurul Hasan.

Earlier, sent in to bat first on Tuesday, Prime Bank South Zone faced an initial batting collapse losing two national coloured openers -- Anamul Haque (6) and Shahriar Nafees (17) -- cheaply for 44 runs in 16.4 overs, but former national cricketer Tushar Imran pairing with one down Fazle Mahmud repaired the early damage scoring 165 runs in the 3rd wicket stand enabling the team to score a fighting total.

Number four batsman Tushar Imran, who regained his rhythm in the season, hammered a polished innings of 130 runsoff 221 balls featuring 15 fours and one six while Fazle Mahmud contributed 161-ball 89 runs, hitting 11 fours and a six. Top order national coloured batsman Mohammad Mithun made a patient 56-ball 22 runs with three hits to the fence.

Khaled Mahmud, who grabbed two wickets for 67 runs on Tuesday, finally grabbed four wickets for 84 runs while Mohammad Saifuddin and Abu Jayed claimed two wickets each giving away 67 and 90 runs respectively.
