Centurion Shadman Islam shared 200 runs with Saif Hassan in the opening stand partnership. The partnership helped Walton Central Zone to score 249/3 in 90 overs, at stumps, after the first day's play against BCB North Zone in the 4th round of the four-day Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura on Tuesday, reports UNB.
Marshall Ayub (20* off 32b; 3x4) and skipper Mahmudullah Riyad (21* off 20b; 2x4) were at the crease when the balls were drawn for the first day.
Shoriful Islam got Shadman (107 off 239b; 9x4), was caught behind by Dhiman Ghosh, in the innings 77th overs dismissing the opening pair.
Shoriful-Dhiman combination again found another big hitter opener Saif Hassan (94 off 243b; 12x4; 1x6) on 207/3 in 82.3 overs.
Left-handed pacer Shoriful got three wickets for 50 runs while Sunzamul Islam (1/68) sent off Raqibul Hasan with duck to be another wicket taker for the side, elected to bowl first after winning the toss.

Sent into bat first, Prime Bank South Zone faced initial batting collapse losing two national coloured openers-Anamul Haque (6) and Shahriar Nafees (17) -cheaply for 44 runs in 16.4 overs. Former national cricketer Tushar Imran pairing with one down Fazle Mahmud repaired the early damage scoring 165 runs in the 3rd wicket stand enabling the team to score a fighting total.
Number four batsman Tushar Imran, who regained his rhythm in the season, hammered a polished innings of 130 runs off 221 balls featuring 15 fours and one six while Fazle Mahmud contributed 161-ball 89 runs, hitting 11 fours and a six.
Top order national coloured batsman Mohammad Mithun made a patient 56-ball 22 runs with three hits to the fence. National opener Soumya Sarkar, lower oder Nurul Hasan and Delwar Hossain scored four runs each for the South Zone.
Pacer Mohammad Saifuddin and Khaled Ahmed grabbed two wickets each conceding 40 and 67 runs respectively while Abu Jayed and all-rounder Shohag Gazi took one wicket each conceding 49 and 65 runs respectively.
