Holders Dhaka Abahani Limited and formidable Saif Sporting Club won their respective group matches of the season's curtain raiser soccer meet, the Walton Federation Cup Football Tournament, at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city on Sunday, reports UNB.

Defending champions Dhaka Limited made a good start in the season's curtain raiser soccer meet beating Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 1-0 goal in opening Group C match Sunday afternoon.

Former national skipper Mamunul Islam Mamun scored the match-winner for the sky-blue popular Dhanmondi outfit in the 54th minute by a placing shot from danger zone that kissed the freedom fighter net, hitting the side bar (1-0).

Mamun, who got the opportunity to make match-winner utilising a Belfast shot pass that came his way by a header of Sunday.
