East Zone score 332 for 3 against Central Zone

Islami Bank East Zone scored 332 for 3 in 90 overs in the first innings against Walton Central Zone on the first day of the four-day 3rd round match of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Sunday, featuring two centuries by Zakir Hasan and Liton Kumar Das, reports UNB.

Going to bat first after winning the toss, Islami Bank East Zone lost two quick wickets of Mehedi Maruf (17) and captain Mominul Haque (4) for 50 runs in 15.3 overs, but one down Liton Kumar Das pairing with number four Zakir Hasan repaired the early damage contributing 193 runs in the 3rd wicket stand to carry the team total to 243 runs from 50.

Zakir Hasan, who scored 119 against Prime Bank South Zone in the first round match, hammered an unconquered 156 runs off 235 balls, hitting 18 boundaries, one down Liton Kumar Das contributed 186-ball 112 runs featuring eight fours and one six while Tasamul Haque was also in the crease with 74-ball 35 runs with the help of five boundaries.

Shuvagoto Hom grabbed two wickets for 96 runs while Abu Hayder Rony took the remaining wicket conceding 25 runs.

In the day's other match, league leader BCB North Zone made 214 for 3 in 57 overs against Prime Bank South Zone on the first day of the four-day third round match of the league at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Sunday.

BCB North Zone made a flying start scoring 169 runs in 45 overs in the opening stand by Mizanur Rahman and national coloured Junaid Siddique, but suddenly they went down to 171 for 3 in in 46.3 overs losing wickets of one down Nazmul Hossain Shanta (0) and two down Farhad Hossain (0) in span of only two runs in nine balls.

Opener Mizanur Rahman made a century with 106 runs off 155 balls hitting 16 boundaries, before he was bowled by veteran spinner Abdur Razzak, who claimed all the three wickers conceding 62 runs in his 19-over spell with a maiden.
