The opening day of the fifth round of National Cricket League (NCL) saw the bowlers domination in each ground across the country on Saturday, reports BSS.

Dhaka pacer Sumona Khan claimed 6-50 while Chattogram's new sensation Fahad Hossain took 5-31 to help their side to keep the nose ahead in the match.

Sylhet pacers Rejaur Rahman Raja and Syed Khaled Ahmed also shined while Sylhet batter Amite Hasan continued his good work with the willow.

Dhaka vs Khulna

A six-wicket haul from pacer Sumon Khan helped Dhaka bowl out Khulna for a meager 172 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

But Khulna restored some parity by reducing Dhaka to 58-3 at stumps on Day 1 of the game.

Sumon Khan who finished with 6-50 troubled Khulna right from the outset after they opted to bat first.

However captain Mohammad Mithun who scored a century in the previous match fought alone to take the side past 150 that looked unlikely at one phase.

Mithun hit a dozen of boundaries to make 69 off 94 before being out by Mahfuzur Rabby. Opener Anamul Haque Bijoy was the other notable scorer with 28.

Salahuddin Shakil picked up 2-57 to complement Sumon's effort.

But there was no respite for Dhaka also. Pacer Al-Amin Hossain grabbed two wickets to give them a torrid time in the late afternoon.

Mosaddek Hossain Saikat was batting on 20 for Dhaka with Ariful Islam on 15

when the bails were drawn.

Chattogram vs Rajshahi

Left-arm fast bowler Fahad Hossain claimed 5-31 as Chattogram took a command over Rajshahi Division when 18-wicket fell at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Put into bat first, Rajshahi were bowled out for just 112 in the face of a devastating fast bowling of Fahad before Chattogram ended the day on 173-8, taking 61 runs lead.

Fahad earned the side a breakthrough in the third over, taking the wicket of Sabbir Hossaiin (1) and then went on to rampage to slice the middle order of Rajshahi.

His new ball partner Irfan Hossain and Ashraful Hasan who has been in superb form took two wickets apiece to complement his effort.

Golam Kibria was the top-scorer for Rajshahi with 23 runs. Rahmatullah Ali and opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim made identical 19 runs.

Chattogram made a solid start with opener Parvez Hossain Emon and Sadikur Rahman sharing 96-run for the opening stand. But thereafter they lost eight wickets for just 77 runs which dented their hopes to take a big lead.

Sadikur was the only one to score half-century in a bowling-friendly surface when he made 54 off 57 with six fours and one six. Emon made 41.

Sabbir Hosan and Wasi Siddique ripped through Chattogram with three wickets apiece.

At stumps, Shamim Patwari was batting on 19 with Ashraful Hasan yet to open his account.

Sylhet vs Dhaka Metro

Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed snapped up 4-19 as Sylhet put them on top over Dhaka Metro at Khulna Stadium.

Nasum, ably supported by pacers-Khaled Ahmed and Rejaur Rahma Raja-helped Sylhet to wrap up Metro for just 130 in the first innings. And then Sylhet reached 137-2 at stumps, indicating to take a big first innings lead.

Both Raja and Khaled took three wickets apiece. Nasum and these two pacers indeed scalped wickets in a combined venture to make Metro's life hell.

Opener and captain Naim Sheikh only made some resistance by scoring 31 while Mahfijul Islam Robin made 27. Naim and Robin gave the side a solid start by adding 53 runs for the opening stand after which Nasum, Raja and Khaled sparked a sensational collapse that saw them losing the next nine wickets for 77 runs.

Amite Hasan then led Sylhet to take the full command after they lost two wickets in quick succession.

Amite who hammered a double century in the previous match and had already forced his case stronger for national debut was batting on 51 with Mubin Ahmed Dishan on 19 when the bails were drawn.

Opener Taufiq Khan Tushar was the other notable scorer with 42.

Barishal vs Rangpur

Barishal rode on three half-century to reach 266-7 against Rangpur on Day 1 at Rajshahi Stadium.

Opener Iftekhar Hossain Ifti continued his rich vein of form by making 70 while Salman Hossain Emon scored 67. Tasamul Haque was the other one to make 51.

After being asked to bat first, Barishal were reduced to 43-3 before Ifti and Emon shared 111-run for the fourth wicket to rescue the side.

However Rangpur hit back, claiming the wicket of those two set batters in quick succession.

Tasamul, ably supported by Sohag Gazi who made 35, helped the side claw back into the game again.

Skipper Tanvir Islam was batting on 6 with Moin Khan who is yet to score at stumps.
