Bangladesh cricket Test side skipper Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the first Test of the two-match series against Sri Lanka due to finger injury, after missing out batting on the final of the Tri-nation ODI series on Saturday, reports UNB.

Bangladesh Cricket Board physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury said the x-ray report had come clear but the injury required stitches.

"The x-ray did not find any fracture. However, there is joint sprain at the base of the little finger on his left hand. He has been assessed by a cosmetic surgeon and necessary repairs have been done. The affected finger will have to be immobilized for at least a week before further assessment is made which means he is out of the first Test in Chittagong," said Debashis.

Shakib suffered injury during the fielding when Sri Lankans were on 175/5 in 41.1 overs in the final of the Tri-nation series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

.He missed out the all-important final game of the ODI series as he was hospitalized with finger injury.

In the final, Mustafizur Rahman delivered the 1st ball of innings 42nd over to Lankan skipper Dinesh Chandimal, who hammered the ball angling across to off stump, Shakib sprint in from extra-cover area before throwing himself forward to pick-up-and-scoop to the bowler's end, but landed awkwardly to hurt him in some way.

The Tigers will face Sri Lanka in the 1st match of the two-match Test series, starting at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagongon Wednesday(January 31).
