ICC World Cup trophy arrives in city

The ICC Cricket World Cup Trophy arrived in the city on Wednesday morning on a four-day visit to Bangladesh as part of its journey around the globe, reports UNB.

Carrying the trophy, a flight of Emirates Airways landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city at 8:40 am.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, ICC's showpiece 50-over event, will be held in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14 in 2019.

The cricket fans in Dhaka, Sylhet and Chattogram will get the opportunity to see the 64cm trophy weighing 10.80 kgs in their respective cities under a Unicef Bangladesh programme before it leaves Bangladesh on October 21.

After the unveiling at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the morning, there was a photo session with the underprivileged children at 10:30 am and another photo session with Bangladesh National Cricket team at 12 noon. On the second day, today (Thursday), the trophy will be displayed for the cricket fans at Centre Court of Jamuna Future Park in the city from 11 am to 9 pm.

The trophy will travel to Sylhet tomorrow (Friday) on a daylong tour to make photo session with unprivileged children at International Cricket Stadium at 10:30 am. It will be displayed for fans from 11 am to 4 pm on the same venue before visiting Sylhet Cadet College at 4:30 pm.

Finally, the trophy will make a daylong tour to Chattogram on Saturday (October 20) to hold a photo session with the unprivileged children at 10:30 am and it will be displayed for the fans from 11 am to 6 pm on the day, both at the MA Aziz Stadium.
