Inter-district athletics meet held in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Jan 23(BSS): The day-long Inter-district athletics competition was held at Rajshahi Muktjuddho Smrity Stadium on Thursday.

The competition was organised on the occasion of Festival of Youth-2024.

Participants from eight districts of Rajshahi division took part in the competition held in 18 events including 10 of men's' and eight women's.

Speaking as the chief guest, additional divisional commissioner of Rajshahi Rezaul Alam Sarkar said the youth should develop themselves as worthy citizens to build the country and nation by focusing on education as well as sports.

He said, "There is no alternative to sports to keep the body healthy...We'll keep our body healthy through sports. There will be win and loss in sports, don't despair about it. Competition becomes worthless when everyone is a winner."

Later, he handed over the prizes and certificates to the winners' in various categories.

Bangladesh Athletics Federation member Lutfar Rahman and District Sports Officer Goutam Kumar Sarkar, among others, were present in the prize distribution ceremony with Deputy Director of Youth Development Department ATM Golam Mahbub in the chair.
