Mahidul, Ashok help Khelaghar win in Premier Cricket

Mahidul Islam Ankon and Ashok Menaria hit a century each in their unbeaten partnership of 221 runs to guide Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity to a seven-wicket victory against Agrani Bank Cricket Club in the 5th round match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Saturday, reports UNB.

Khelaghar SKS chased down a target of 260 runs, scoring 261/3 in 47.4 overs, riding on the two unbeaten centuries by man of the match Ankon (115* off 131b; 4x4; 6x5) and Ashok (113* off 112b; 9x4; 3x6) who scored 221 runs in the 4th wicket stand in 38.1 overs.

Bangladesh under-19 side wicketkeeper batsman Ankon and Indian all-rounder Ashok started their composures at 40/3 in 9.3 overs and played till the end for the 2nd win of the side in the List 'A' league.

Shafiul Islam got all three wickets for 33 runs in 8.4 overs for the losing side.

Batting first after winning the toss, Agrani Bank CC posted 259 for 8 in 50 overs where top-scorer Jahid Javed (54 off 56b; 4x4) hit a half century for the side.

Skipper Abdur Razzak (30), Shahriar Nafees (29), Rafatullah Mohmand (28), opener Azmir Ahmed (25), Soumya Sarkar (24), Salman Hossain (22) and Shafiul Islam (20) were the other double digit scorers for Agrani Bank CC.

Robiul Islam Robi (2/19), Masum Khan (2/30) and Rafsan Al Mahmud (2/35) equally shared six wickets while Mohammad Saddam (1/54) and Hasan Mahmud (1/55) were other wicket takers for Khelaghar SKS.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club earned their 3rd consecutive victory in the 12-team Walton Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League beating Prime Bank Cricket Club by three wickets at BKSP ground-3 in Savar on Saturday, despite a century by Al Amin of the losing team. After the day's 5th round matches, three teams -- Shinepukur CC, Legends of Rupganj and Dhaka Mohammedan SC - were sharing the 2nd slot securing six points each from five matches, but in the net run rate, Shinepukur were in the 2nd place, Legends Rupganj in the 3rd slot and Mohammedan SC in the 4th slot. With the 4th successive defeat, Prime Bank remained at 11th slot in the 12-team fray with two points from five outings despite a century by Al Amin and as well as inclusion of Indian all-rounder Yousuf Pathan in the team.

Prime Bank SC batted first and faced an initial batting jolt losing six top wickets cheaply for 36 runs in 13.5 overs, but two down Al Amin pairing with number eight Ariful Haque repaired the early damage scoring a challenging total of 259 for 9 in allocated 50 overs.

Al Amin, a member of Bangladesh-19 team, hammered a century contributing 110 runs off 126 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes and was adjudged the man of the match, despite his team conceded the 4th defeat in a row. Ariful Haque scored a polished knock 87 runs off 100 balls, featuring four fours and four sixes while lower order Delwar Hossain quick-fired 14-ball 25 runs with the help of two boundaries and one over boundary.

Meanwhile, Shinepukur Cricket Club crushed the Kalabagan Krira Chakra by six wickets in the 5th round match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the city Saturday.

Shinepukur chased down the target of 233 for 4 in 42.3 overs spurred with two half centuries by national under-19 side star all-rounder Afif Hossain and top-order batsman Towhid Hridoy.
