Marcel first div chess begins on Saturday

The Marcel First Division Chess league, organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation, will begin on Saturday (December 30) at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room in the city, reports UNB.

Twelve teams were invited to participate in the round robin league system meet offering cash prize money of Tk 0.1 million (one lakh), in addition to trophies, medals and home appliances.

Invited teams are: Dhaka Mohammedan SC, Bangladesh Navy Junior Chess Club, Hasan Memorial Chess Club, Basir Memorial Chess Club, Agrani Bank Limited Chess Team, Mir Chess Club, Mohakhali Pradip Sangha, Debdas Biswas Smriti Sangsad, Kasparov Chess Club, Sonargaon Chess Club, Esoft Arena and Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society.

The Champion team will get prize money of Tk 50,000, runners-up team will receive Tk 30,000 while the 3rd placed team will get Tk 20,000.

Top two teams of the league will be promoted to the Premier Division Chess League while the two bottom teams will be relegated to the 2nd Division Chess League from next season.
