Mehidy doing well: BCB physician

Taskin set to get back in action

All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has no problem with his right thumb that was hurt during Sunday's game, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)'s chief physician said on Tuesday, reports UNB.

Mehidy is expected to play in the 11th round game of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) between Abahnai and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.

"I hope he'll be fine to play the next game," Debashis Chowdhury, the chief physician, told the media.

A source in Abahani said that Mehidy's injury is not serious and that the right-handed all-rounder will be fit to play in the next game.

Mehidy was injured while fielding on the boundary line on April 07 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city. He was forced to leave the field and take ice therapy.

The injury came as a fresh concern for Bangladesh ahead of the World Cup.

Meanwhile, right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed is all set to get back in action after a layoff of two months due to an ankle injury.

He was facing uncertainty whether he would be able to play in the World Cup, but after a hard rehabilitation, the pacer is now allowed to play competitive cricket.

He will play in the premier cricket league for Legends of Rupganj who are currently at the top of the points table.

"It was my dream to get fit and take part in the league," Taskin told the media on Tuesday at the National Cricket Academy at Mirpur in the city.

He had to skip the New Zealand tour due to the ankle injury.

"I'm confident about my fitness. I bowled three sessions with the full run-up. There was no problem. I'm close to playing again after a break of more than two months," he said.

"I'm optimistic about doing well."

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will announce the World Cup squad on April 18. Taskin needs to prove his form and fitness before that.

"I won't be considered for the World Cup team if I don't do well. This is really a tough situation for me because [playing in] the World Cup is my dream," he told reporters.

The right-arm pacer started his career in 2014 with an ODI against India at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city. He registered a five-wicket haul in his debut.
