Muktijoddha upset Sheikh Russell

Muktijddha Sangsad KC beat defending champions Sheikh Russell KC by 2-1 goal in a key match of the Bangladesh Premier Football League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.

This was the 2nd consecutive defeat for holders Sheikh Russell KC in their 5th league encounter after losing 0-1 to Brothers Union. The day's win was the second for Muktijoddha SKC in their 5th league engagement.

Muktijoddha SKC secured seven points from five matches while Sheikh Russell KC have nine points from five outings.

In the day' match, medio Enamul Haque and Nigerian Nkowcha Kingsley scored one goal each for Muktijoddha SKC, in either half of the match.

Moroccan forward Younnes Roux netted the lone goal for Sheikh Russell KC in the second half.

Muktijoddha SKC took lead in the 23rd minute as their attacking midfielder Enamul Haque found the net by an angular ground shot from the right edge of the box, utilizing a pass of Nigerian forward Elita Kingsley that came his way after deflecting one of the Sheikh Russell defenders (1-0).

Nigerian forward Nkowcha Kingsley doubled the Muktijoddha margin in the 51st minute by a powerful grounder after breaking an off-side trap, off a through pass of defender Mohiuddin Ibnul Siraji (2-0).

Moroccan forward Younnes Roux reduced the margin for Sheikh Russell KC in the 73rd minute by a left footer (2-1).

In the 83rd minute, a free kick of Jamaican midfielder of Sheikh Russell KC Ricardo Cousins hit the side post.
