Mushfiq joins Tigers' long injury list

Bangladesh's wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the remainder of Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), the franchise-based four-day competition, with an ankle injury that is set to rule him out of action for the next three weeks, reports Cricbuzz.

Mushfiqur scored a brilliant century for table-toppers BCB North during their last match. He sustained the injury while playing football during warm-ups a day after his hundred.

"He sustained a sprain on his left ankle and we suggested one week rest before we take the next course of action after watching his condition,'' BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury told the online sports news portal on Monday. ''But our experience says these kind of sprains take around two to three weeks to recover usually,'' he said.

Mushfiqur joins a growing injury list of national players with several cricketers going through rehabilitation to recover from their respective injuries. All-rounder Mehedy Hasan was diagnosed with labral tear on his right shoulder and board physicians are trying to heal it in a conservative way with injection and physiotherapy with surgery seen only as a last option.

Mehedy Hasan's present condition suggests he is unlikely to take part in the upcoming proposed ODI series against Afghanistan that is scheduled to be played in India in June.
