Mushtaq join BD team as spin consultant for SA series

Mushtaq Ahmed, the former Pakistan leg-spinner, has returned to Bangladesh coaching setup as the spin bowling consultant for the upcoming two-Test series against South Africa, reports Cricbuzz.
Mushtaq was also with the team during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 as well Bangladesh's tour of Pakistan. However, other commitments meant he could not join the coaching staff for the tour of India. He had, however, mentioned earlier that he was keen to re-join the Bangladesh team after honouring his commitments.
Mushtaq had a busy time with the team in the net session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday, guiding the cricketers as well as having long chats with newly appointed head coach Phil Simmons, who recently replaced Chandika Hathurusingha.
"He (Mushtaq) is here for this [South Africa] series. This year, whenever he is available and does not have any prior commitments, he will work series by series with us. Right now, he is here, we'll see what happens in the next series," a BCB official told the online news portal.
Another BCB official insisted that they are looking to sign a long-term contract with Mushtaq at the end of this year, if everything goes as per plan.
It remains to be seen whether Mushtaq can make time for the ODI series against Afghanistan and the tour of West Indies this year before inking a long term deal, subject to his availability and keenness of the BCB.
