Narail make a flying start outplaying Jhalakathi

Narail district made a flying start in the Inter-Divisional Women's Handball Tournament crushing Jhalakathi district by 21-1 goals in one of the six opening day matches at the Dhanmondi Sultana Kamal Women's Sports Complex in the city on Sunday, reports UNB.

In the day's other matches, Satkhira District beat Rajshahi by 9-5 goals, Barishal defeated Chattogram 10-5, Kishoreganj overcame Jamalpur 11-9, Faridpur beat Rangamati 11-9 and Mymensingh defeated Sylhet 5-3 at the same venue.

Earlier, State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder inaugurated the three-day meet Sunday afternoon at a simple ceremony.

A total of 16 teams-the champions and runners-up of eight divisions-are taking part in the meet.

Participating team are: Barishal, Satkhira, Kishoreganj, Jhalakathi, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rangpur, Faridpur, Rajshahi, Naogaon, Narial, Rangamati, Chattogram and Jamalpur.
