Nat’l Archery Championship begins today

The Teer 9th National Archery Championship, organised by Bangladesh Archery Federation (BAF), begins today (Tuesday) at the Archery Training Centre, Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi, reports UNB.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Youth and Sports Ministry Zahid Ahsan Russell will inaugurate the four-day meet. Executive Director of meet's sponsor City Group Shoeb Mohammad Asaduzzaman will also be present as the special guest.
A total of 142 archers from 32 teams will participate in 10 events: five in the Recurve Division and five in Compound Division of ranking and elimination rounds.
BAF General Secretary Kazi Rajibuddin Ahmed Chapal disclosed detail of the meet at a press conference at the NSC conference room on Monday. BAF vice president Anisur Rahman Dipu, BAF joint secretary and member secretary of the tournament Rashiduzzaman Serniabat and Senior Deputy Brand Manager of City Group Rubaiet Ahamed also spoke on the occasion.
Replying to a query, Chapal said, "We failed to arrange the national championship 2017 in time due to hosting Asian Archery Championship at the end of last year and we hope we will be able to arrange National Championship 2018 by December this year." Country's leading archers will compete in the men's singles, men's team, women's singles, women's team and mixed doubles events of both the recurve and compound divisions for the 10 gold medals.
