Pakistan's Asjad Iqbal clinches Sheikh Kamal 1st SAARC Snooker title

Asjad Iqbal of Pakistan clinched the Sheikh Kamal Memorial 1st SAARC Snooker Championship' 2019 title beating his compatriot Muhammad Bilal in a close final at the Dhaka Club snooker room in the city on Friday, reports UNB.

The champions received prize money of USD 2,500 while the runner-up bagged USD 1,500 and the two losing semifinalists earned USD 500 each.

Asjad Iqbal (Pakistan) and Muhammad Bilal (Pakistan) reached the finals defeating Deepak Mangar (Nepal) and Sundeep Gulati (India) respectively.

Private Industry and Investment Adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Salman F Rahman, MP, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and later he handed over the prizes at a function at Dhaka Club in the evening.

A total of 12 players from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka, divided in four groups, took part in the international tournament.

Secretary of Bangladesh Billiards and Snooker Federation (BBSF) Syed Mahbub, Tournament Director A Ibrahim Kazu, Dhaka Club Representative and Member In-charge- Development, Billiards, Snooker and Tennis Dr Zahirul Islam were present there among others.
