Pappu ton helps Rupganj win, Khelaghar rout Sk Jamal

Salauddin Pappu's century of 125 helped Legends of Rupganj's 26-run win against Kalabagan Krira Chakra in the 9th round match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground- 3 in Savar on Monday, reports UNB.

After the day's result, Rupganj registered the 6th win against three losses to collect 12 points from nine outings and got the 2nd spot in the 12-team List 'A' league table, staying two points behind the leader Abahani.

Hapless Kalabagan remained in the bottom 12th with four points from nine matches, having two wins against seven losses.

Sent to bat first in the day's match, Rupganj scored 314 for 5 in 50 overs and restricted Kalabagan to 288 for all in 49.5 overs.

Before being caught by Mohammad Ashraful off Taibur Rahman on 196/2 in 31.5 overs, man of the match Salauddin Pappu played an innings of 95 balls to fire 12 boundaries and eight over boundaries for his century and shared an innings of 150 off 22.3 overs in the 2nd wicket with Mohammad Naim.

Skipper Naeem Islam (61* off 53b; 5x4; 1x6) hit unbeaten half century and shared a partnership of 71 0ff 11 overs with Parvez Rasool in the 4th wicket to carry the team collection to 271/4 in 44.4 overs from 200/3 in 33.4 overs.

Mohammad Naim (45 off 66b; 5x4) fell short of five runs for a half century as he was caught and bowled by Taibur Rahman on 200/3 in 33.4 overs.

Parvez Rasool (32 off 30b; 2x4; 1x6) was run out on 271/4 in 44.4 overs while opener Abdul Mazid added 20 runs.

Abul Hasan (2/49) and Taibur Rahman (2/19) equally shared four wickets for the losing side.

Indian under-9 side wicketkeeper batsman Shreevats Goswami (75 off 102b; 7x4) and Bangladesh team former skipper Mohammad Ashraful (64 off 67b; 7x4) hammered half centuries for Kalabagan.

Ashraful, who was bowled out by Asif Hasan on 202/5 in 40.3 overs, shared another partnership innings of 74 off 11 overs in the 4th stand with Mahmudul Hasan to carry the team collection to 199/4 in 39.3 overs from 125/3 in 28.3 overs.

Abul Hasan (34), skipper Mahmudul Hasan (30), Faruque Hossain (29), Tasamul Haque (23) and Rahatul Ferdous (14) were the other double digit scorers for the losing team.

Asif Hasan (3/43) and Parvez Rasool (3/50) equally shared six wickets while Mohammad Shahid (2/62), Naeem Islam (1/52) and Mosharraf Hossain (1/59) shared four wickets to tackle Kalabagan's batters.

Meanwhile, Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity notched up a six-wicket victory against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the 9th round match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium of Mirpur on Monday.

After the day's results, Khelaghar moved up to the 5th spot from 8th in the league table with 10 points, registering five wins against four losses, while Sk Jamal slipped to 9th from 6th with nine points, having four wins against five losses.

Khelaghar chased down a target of 168 for 4 in 40 overs after restricting Sk Jamal on 167 for all in 48 overs.

Khelaghar's big hitters Ashok Menaria (58* off 71b; 7x4) and Rafsan Al Mahmud (49 off 82b; 3x4; 1x6) shared 97 off 22.1 overs in the 4th wickets to carry the team collection to 167/4 in 39.4 overs from 70/3 in 17.3 overs before Rafsan was lbw by Sajedul Islam.

Robiul Islam Robi and Mahidul Islam Ankon added 34 and 14 runs respectively.

Sohag Gazi (1/26), Robiul Haque (1/29) and Sajedul Islam (1/29) shared three wickets for the losing side.

In the Sk Jamal's innings, Tanbir Hayder (52 off 65b; 5x4) hit a half century while Shykat Ali and Al-Imran added 24 and 20 runs respectively.

Man of the match Tanvir Islam captured three wickets for economic 30 runs while Anjum Ahmed (3/16), Moinul Islam (2/32) and Masum Khan (1/12) were the other wicket takers to handle the Sk Jamal batsmen.
