President Cup Hockey to begin on Nov 16

Like other sports federations, the Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) is also on the move as the federation is going to roll the hockey this month after eight months due to COVID-19 pandemic, reports BSS.

The BHF will host the President Cup Hockey tournament starting from November 16 at the Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium, said the BHF acting general secretary Mohammad Yousuf on Wednesday.

He said six teams, including four services teams, would take part in the tournament. The services teams are Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air force, Bangladesh Army and Bangladesh Police.

Yousuf said they would divide their U-21 hockey team into two teams which will be the remaining two teams of the tournament.

After the President Cup Hockey, the Victory Day hockey competition will be held in December, he also added.

Asked when the practice of the senior hockey team will start for Champions Trophy Hockey, he said, " No decision has been taken in this regard yet because we are now thinking to roll the premier league before the senior team's training camp … we have a meeting with the league committee on November 12 and it'll depend on the outcome of the meeting because there is still a long way to go to start the Champions Trophy."
