Prime Bank Cricket Club made a good start in the Walton Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League beating Kalabagan Krira Chakra by seven wickets in their first match at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Sent in to bat first, Kalabagan KC scored 172 runs for 8 in quota 50 overs with lower order batsman Mahmudul Hasan scoring 50 runs off 68 balls.
Middle order Taibur Rahman scored 45 runs off 79 balls, hitting one four and a six, opener Tasamul Haque made 17 runs off 57 balls while former national skipper Mohammad Ashraful scored 16-ball 14 runs.
Delwar Hossain grabbed three wickets for 32 runs and was adjudged man of the match while Shariful Islam claimed two for 31 runs.
In reply, Prime Bank CC easily reached their target scoring the match-winner 173 runs for the loss of three wickets in 36 overs, featuring 74 runs in the opening stand by Zakir Hasan and Mehedi Maruf.
Zakir Hasan contributed 56 runs playing 78 balls, Mehedi Maruf scored 51 runs off 49 deliveries hitting three fours and three sixes while Kunal Chandela made unbeaten 41 runs off 60 balls with three fours for the bankers' team. Mohammad Ashraful, Muktar Ali and Abul Hasan took one wicket each conceding 24, 27 and 38 runs respectively.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club earned an exciting three-run victory over Legends of Rupganj in their first engagement of the Walton Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League despite a century by Naeem Islam at BKSP ground-4 in Savar on Wednesday.
Legends of Rupganj won the toss and sent Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club to open the innings first.
Going to bat, Sheikh Jamal DC scored a moderate 230 for 9 in allocated 50 overs.
Nurul Hasan Shohan hammered 90 runs off 107 balls, featuring eight fours and one six, to be adjudged man of the match. Hassanuzzaman quick-fired 37-ball 49 runs with seven hits across the rope and two over the rope, Al Imran scored 43-ball 28 runs with one four while Elias Sunny added 60-ball 23 runs hitting two fours.
Asif Hasan captured three wickets for 29 runs while Mosharruf Hossain, Naeem Islam and Mohammad Sharif claimed two wickets each giving away 41, 47 and 53 runs respectively.
Chasing the target, Legends of Rupganj were forced to fold their innings at 227 runs for 8 in stipulated 50 overs, despite Naeem Islam's unbeaten run-a-ball 116 featuring eight fours and four sixes.
Nazmul Hossain Milon made a half century with 61-ball 51 runs, including three fours and two sixes.
