Railway Sports begins in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, Jan 27: A two-day Railway Annual Sports Competition started on Saturday at the city's Railway Stadium Polo Ground. It is the 39th annual sports competition of Bangladesh Railway, organised by Bangladesh Railway Sports Control Board.

The prize giving and closing session will be addressed by Director General of the Bangladesh Railway Md Amjad Hossain as the chief guest.

Secretary of the Railways Ministry Md Mofazzel Hossain inaugurated the event as the chief guest. He said sports competition, organised every year for the Railway officers, employees and workers, is an important event as these sports keep health and mind strong and joyful.

The Railway Polo Ground in Chittagong is a historic place since the British period and has nurtured many famous players in this region.

General Manager of the Bangladesh Railway (east) Md Abdul Hai, who is also president of the Bangladesh Railway Sports Control Board, said the annual sports bring all officers and staffs interact with each other at this special event, once in a year.

General Secretary of the Bangladesh Railway Sports Control Board Md Arifuzzaman also addressed the inaugural event. The two-day programme started with hoisting of national flag and march past by participants of the competition. [email protected]
