Raina edges past Kohli to become leading run-scorer

MUMBAI, May 23 (Agencies): Suresh Raina overtook Virat Kohli to become the all-time leading in the Indian Premier League. The stylish Chennai Super Kings southpaw needed 19 to get past Kohli before the start of Qualifier 1 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.

Raina and Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Kohli have been involved in a heated race for the top over the last three seasons. After RCB crashed out of the league stage and CSK qualified for the play-offs, it was a golden chance for Raina to secure the leading run-scorer's spot and keep it for a year.

Meanwhile, Kane Williamson became the leading run-scorer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 tournament, during the Qualifier 1 between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
