New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson scripted history as he became the highest run scoring captain in a single edition of ICC Cricket World Cup on Sunday. England fast bowler Mark Wood also achieved a massive feat during the ICC World Cup 2019 final against New Zealand as he bowled the fastest delivery of the tournament. England's Joe Root took 13 catches in the ODI World Cup 2019 - the most by a fielder in an ODI series/tournament.

Williamson scored most runs by any captain in an edition of World Cup

Kane Williamson was one run shy of going past former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene's record and the Kiwi star did so easily during the team's World Cup final against hosts England at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London. Jayawardene scored 548 runs in 11 innings in the 2007 edition of the tournament while Williamson took just 9 innings to equal his record and in his 10th innings, he etched his name in history books. Australian duo Ricky Ponting and Aaron Finch take the third and fourth sport respectively while former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers complete the top five.

Mark Wood bowls fastest delivery

Mark Wood bowled a 154kph (95.7mph) delivery to Henry Nicholls - the joint fastest along with compatriot Jofra Archer and Australia's Mitchell Starc. The trio is followed by New Zealand's Lockie Ferguson (152kph) and Shannon Gabriel of the West Indies (150kph).

Joe Root took most by a fielder in an ODI series/tournament

Joe Root took 13 catches in the ODI World Cup 2019 - the most by a fielder in an ODI series/tournament, going past Allan Border's 12 catches in Benson and Hedges World Series in 1988/89 and VVS Laxman's 12 catches during VB Series in 2003/04.

# Jonny Bairstow became the second England batsman to score 500-plus runs in an edition of ODI World Cup after Joe Root who achieved the same feat in 2019 World Cup.

This was the second instance of both No 5 and No 6 batsmen scoring 50-plus runs each while chasing in an ODI World Cup knockout match.
