Saifuddin rested for three weeks

Bangladesh all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin, suffering from a back injury, will be out of action for three weeks, reports UNB.

Debashis Chowdhury, the chief physician of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), on Saturday told the media that Saifuddin needs at least three weeks to recover.

He also suggested three different methods to treat injury.

"The problem he's having is facet joint syndrome, which is very common with pace bowlers. This type of injury can't be healed by surgery.

But there're three different ways to get rid of it," Debashis said.

He suggested that technical correction is the first solution for Saifuddin, which can be done by changing the bowling action.

But it is tough at this stage because the all-rounder is habituated with his current bowling action.

He might not be comfortable with a new one.

The second option is to take painkiller injections but they will have side-effects.

The third option is radiofrequency ablation, which will give him more pain-free time.

"Our goal is to increase his pain-free time. If he has no pain, he has no problem with playing.

But for now, Saifuddin has to rest for three weeks. During this time, he isn't allowed to run or bowl," Debashis said.

Saifuddin and ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza have been ruled out of Sri Lanka tour due to injuries.

Both suffered during the World Cup too. While Mashrafe did not skip any match, Saifuddin had to sit out the game against Australia due to injury.
