Satkhira dist administration accords reception to three women footballers

SATKHIRA, Nov 22 (BSS): Bangladesh national women's football team captain Sabina Khatun, defenders Masura Parvin and Afeida Khandaker were accorded mass reception with great enthusiasm in their home town in Satkhira district.
The mass reception, jointly organised by the District Administration and Sports Association, held at District Arts Academy Auditorium on Thursday, presided by Satkhira Deputy Commissioner Mostaq Ahmed.
Satkhira Superintendent of Police Monirul Islam, district BNP convener advocate Syed Iftekhar Ali, Satkhira Government Women's College principal Basu Dev Basu, Satkhira Government College principal Abul Hashem, former FIFA referee Tayeb Hasan Babu, were among others, also present in the reception ceremony.
Each of the three winners were given a cheque for Tk 100,000 and crest.
Captain Sabina Khatun in her reaction said, "The boys and girls of Satkhira not only leading football but also in various sports. In my fifteen years of experience, Satkhira District Stadium has not hosted any major tournament which is very sad.
There is no mechanism to bring up Sabina, Masura and Afeida from the next generation."
"We want more good players like us to emerge from Satkhira and I would like to urge the district administration to give priority to other sports besides football." she added.
Satkhira Deputy Commissioner Mostak Ahmed said these three girls are not only the pride of Satkhira, but the whole of Bangladesh. Their success would further inspire the new generation.
It can be mention Bangladesh won the prestigious SAFF Women's Championship title for the second consecutive occasion in a row after beating host Nepal by 2-1 goals in the final held in Kathmandu, Nepal on October 30 last.
