The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selection panel met skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza on Sunday to discuss the World Cup squad, which is expected to be named in the third week of this month, reports BSS.
After the completion of the match between Abahani Limited and Legends of Rupganj, chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu and his selection panel member Habibul Bashar Sumon went to the Abahani dressing room to talk to Mashrafe about the squad.
Khaled Mahmud Sujon, the coach of Abahani, was also present there since he is all set to be the manager of Bangladesh team in the ICC Cricket World Cup.
Mahmud later revealed the topic of the matter after the match in which his team suffered a six-wicket to Legends of Rupganj.
"The selectors just came to talk to Mashrafe about the World Cup as he is the captain of the team. Some of the national players haven't been performing well in the DPL, which seems to be the matter of concern for the selectors" he said.
"Some players are not in the form as well but the selectors seemed no doubt about the ability of the national players. The experience and performance in the overseas condition will be considered when the World Cup team will be formed. The selectors basically talked to Mashrafe about those factors," he revealed.
Mahmud has already been offered to be the manager of Bangladesh in the World Cup. He, however, said he will take the role unless there is any personal problem.
"I was manager of the team for the four and a half years. But I couldn't continue it due to some personal problems. If I am free and there is no personal problem, I will take the role," he said.
"This is a matter of pride to serve the Bangladesh team at any capacity. So, I am keen to take the role again. But at the same time, I have to see my personal side also. Hopefully, there will be no problem."
