Shadman Islam hit unbeaten century for Shinepukur Cricket Club's eight wickets victory against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the 8th round match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday, reports UNB.
Shinepukur chased down a target of 263 for 2 in 48.3 overs where man of the match Shadman played a brilliant innings of 144* off 147 balls, including nine boundaries and two sixes, and shared an unbeaten partnership of 121 off 18 overs with half centurion Towhid Hridoy in the 3rd wicket.
Left handed batsman Shadman was also affluent in the opening stand partnership of 95 off 22 overs with Fardeen Hasan Ony before sharing another partnership of 47 off 8.3 overs in the 2nd wicket with Uday Kaul.
Towhid Hridoy (50* off 56b; 3x4; 1x6), Fardeen Hasan Ony (38 off 64b; 5x4) and Uday Kaul (13) were the other scorers for the side. Sohag Gazi (1/46) and Robiul Haque (1/49) shared two wickets for the losing side.
Batting first after winning the toss, Sk Jamal scored 262 for all in 49.5 overs spurred with two half centuries by Ziaur Rahman (79 off 87b; 4x4; 4x6) and Hasanuzzaman (61 off 56b; 6x4; 1x6).
Abdul Gaffar (2/14), Shuvagata Hom (2/48), Mohammad Saifuddin (2/56) and Sujon Hawlader (2/57) equally shared eight wickets for the winners.
With the day's result, Shinepukur secured the 2nd spot in the 12-team List 'A' league table, moving up to the 3rd place, with 10 points from eight outings. They recorded five wins against three losses.
Sheikh Jamal DC slipped to the 6th from 5th place with eight points from eight games, recording four wins against four losses.
Meanwhile, Junaid Siddique's century helped Brothers Union to get a stunning 131-run win against Kalabagan Krira Chakra in the 8th round match of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Thursday.
With the day's win, Brothers collected eight points from eight matches to secure 7th place moving up to 9th in the league table while bottom-run Kalabagan KC earned four points also from eight games.
Brothers registered four wins against four losses while Kalabagan KC recorded two win against six losses.
Sent in to bat first in the day's match, Brothers scored a mammoth 317 for 4 in 50 overs and restricted Kalabagan KC on 186 for all in 45 overs.
Junaid Siddique hammered a century of 123 off 111 balls, including 16 boundaries and two sixes, and shared a partnership of 205 off 36 overs in the 2nd wicket stand with Myshukur Rahaman who fell short of four runs for another century for Brothers.
Man of the match Junaid and Myshukur started their composures from 8/1 in 3 overs and ended on 213/2 39 overs as Junaid was caught by Sanjit Saha off Mahmudul Hasan.
Myshukur played an innings of 96 off 121 balls, including six boundaries and three sixes, before being caught by Sanjit Saha off Muktar Ali on 240/3 in 42.1 overs.
