A groin injury to Towhid Hridoy ahead of the three-match ODI series against West Indies comes as a fresh blow for Bangladesh. The 23-year old top-order batter sustained the injury while playing football during a practice session in Bogura, according to Cricbuzz.
Bangladesh have delayed the announcement of the ODI squad as they await the medical reports of Hridoy. "He (Hridoy) suffered a groin injury and as a result we are waiting for the medical report," a BCB official told the online sports portal.
Bangladesh are also missing the services of Mushfiqur Rahim (fractured finger) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (groin) in the ongoing Test series due to their respective injuries. While Mushfiqur Rahim is unlikely to make the ODI squad, the team management is hoping for an early recovery for Najmul but are wary of rushing him back into action early.
Bangladesh will play
the second Test from November 30.
