The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Toby Radford as the head coach of the High Performance (HP) Unit for one year, reports BSS.

Radford's agreement with the BCB for one year began from August 2020, the board said in a press release on Wednesday.

The former West Indies batting and assistant coach Toby Radford's first assignment with the HP team will be the tour in Sri Lanka in September-October. Bangladesh will playa bilateral series and a three-match Test series against the Island nation.

The 48-year old English born Radford played for Middlesex and Sussex between 1994 and 1999.

Radford was the West Indies senior team's batting and assistant coach on two occasions (2012-2013 and 2016-2019).

He has also performed the role of Head Coach of Glamorgan and Middlesex in the English County Championship. Radford carries comprehensive experience as a consultant for ECB and Cricket West Indies (CWI).

Radford said he was looking forward to his new assignment with excitement.

"I am delighted to be appointed as Head Coach of High Performance for the Bangladesh Cricket Board," he said.

"Bangladesh has many talented young cricketers and it will be a privilege to work with, and help develop them in their journey to consistent success at international level.
