Tongi Stadium in Gazipur, now under implementation at a cost of Tk 80.0 million with all modern facilities, will be named after Shaheed Ahsanullah Master, reports UNB.
The decision was taken at an executive committee meeting of the National Sports Council (NSC) held Wednesday with its chairman and State Minister for Youth and Sports M Ahad Ali Sarker, MP in the chair.
The meeting also decided to name the under-construction Khulna Swimming Pool after Bir Sreshtha Shaheed Ruhul Amin, Rangamati Zilla Stadium as "Rangamati Murry Stadium" after national sports award winning Ching Ha Mong Murry, Rangamati Gymnasium as "Prof Kumar Samit Roy Gymnasium" while Rangamati Old Stadium as "Shaheed Sukkur Stadium" after renowned freedom fighter Shaheed Sukkur.
Youth and Sports Secretary Nur Mohammad, President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation and Air Force Chief Air Marshall Mohammad Enamul Bari and President of Bangladesh Swimming Federation and Navy Chief Vice Admiral Zahir Uddin Ahmed were present at the meeting.
