Bangladesh's U-19 Rizan Hossain celebrates with the teammates after taking a wicket against South Africa during the U-19 Tri-Nation Series at Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe on Monday-BCB

Rizan Hossain came up with a sterling all-round performance as Bangladesh Under-19 team clinched the tri-nation series trophy, thrashing South Africa Under-19 by 33 runs in the tournament's final at Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe on Monday, report agencies.

The Bangladesh youngsters put on 269-5, thanks to a blistering 96 ball-95 from middle order batter Rizan Hossain who also led the side in bowling and claimed 5-34 in 8.4 overs to wrap up South Africa for 236 in 48.4 overs

Pacer Al Fahad grabbed 3-50 and Shadhin Islam took 2-34 to complement Rizan in thwarting South Africa.

Rizan struck 10 fours in his 96 ball-95, which was key in steering the side past 250 after a top order collapse that saw Bangladesh reduced to 65-3 after being asked to bat first.

Sent in to bat, they lost three wickets for 65 and looked one more mistake away from a collapse. That's when Rizan walked in to join Kalam Siddiki.

The pair dug in, nudged singles, and jumped on anything loose. By the time Kalam fell for 65, they'd put on 117 and dragged the innings back into safe waters.

Rizan looked set for a century but didn't get there.

In the 48th over, chasing a sharp second run, he was caught short for 95 off 96 balls - ten boundaries, plenty of crisp drives, and a few grimaces at the ones that got away. Md Abdullah (38 off 29) and Samiun Basir (12 off 8) gave the innings a late kick to finish at 269 for five. South Africa came out swinging.

Their openers piled on 59 in eight overs before Al Fahad, with two quick strikes, cracked the chase open.
