City Bank recently appointed Md. Ashanur Rahman as deputy managing director (DMD). Ashanur previously played the role of chief economist and country business manager at the same bank.
With over 20 years of banking experience, Ashanur began his career at Mercantile Bank as a management trainee officer in 2004. He joined City Bank in 2008 during a key transformation phase. He played a vital role in overhauling the credit, legal, and recovery functions and established the Risk Management Division in the bank, according to a press statement.
After five years at the Royal Bank of Canada, Ashanur returned to City Bank in 2019 as the chief economist and country business manager. Since then, he has led numerous strategic initiatives, including the launch of bancassurance.
Ashanur did his graduation from Jahangirnagar University and BIBM. He had also studied in Canada on investment funds.
With this promotion, Ashanur is set to continue shaping City Bank's future growth and strategic direction.
