BKB gets new chairman

Dr. Mohammad Zahid Hossain
Noted economist Dr. Mohammad Zahid Hossain joined Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) as its chairman on Sunday, says a statement.
Previously, he served as a Principal Economist in the South Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), where he oversaw Bangladesh country programming and economic analysis-related works.
He also worked as an ADB Consultant for a long time in the Ministry of Finance to advise senior officials on macroeconomic and sector issues.
Dr. Zahid Hossain started off his career in Customs Cadre in 1979. He played a central role in the design, development and implementation of Value Added Tax (VAT) in Bangladesh. He was also involved in the coordinated reforms of indirect taxes in Bangladesh.
He earned an MA in economics from the University of Dhaka, as well as both an MA and a PhD from the University of the Philippines.
