Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association (BMBA) has elected Iftekhar Alam and Sumit Podder as its president and secretary general respectively for the term 2026-27. Immediate past president of the association Mazeda Khatun handed over the charge to the newly elected president at a ceremony recently. Iftekhar Alam has been elected president of Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association (BMBA) and Sumit Podder its secretary general for the term 2026-27.
Iftekhar Alam is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at LankaBangla Investments Ltd. while Sumit Podder serves as the CEO at MTB Capital Limited.
Chief Election Commissioner Mohammad A. Hafiz announced the names of the executive committee members, says a press statement.
Md. Monirul Haque, CEO of Rupali Investment Limited, has been elected vice president and Syed Rashed Hussain, CEO at BRAC EPL Investments Limited, has been elected treasurer of the new committee.
The elected executive members are Gazi Mohammed Tareq, MD of MIDAS Investment Ltd; Suman Kumar Kundu, MD & CEO of BD Finance Capital Holdings Ltd; and Md Sohel Haque, MD & CEO of City Bank Capital Resources Limited.
