BMBA names 11-member EC

President, vice-president, secretary general to be elected December 31

Bangladesh Merchant Bankers Association (BMBA) Saturday declared the name of 11-member new executive committee for two-year term as the existing committee's tenure will expire on December 31, 2017.

The three-member election committee of the association headed by Mohammad A. Hafiz declared the name of 11-member executive committee at its office in Dhaka on Saturday, said a press release.

The 11-member executive committee has been elected unopposed as the election committee found all the nomination papers valid after scrutiny.

The newly elected executive committee members are: Md. Riyad Matin, chief executive officer of BMSL Investment, Mahbub H. Mazumdar, chief executive officer of AFC Capital, Khiarul Basher Abu Taher Mohammad, chief executive officer of MTB Capital, Md. Rafiqul Islam, chief executive officer of Green Delta Capital, Tahid Ahmed Chowdhury, chief executive officer of Citizen Securities & Investment, Mohammed Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, director of LankaBangla Investment, Md. Hafizuddin, chief executive officer of Midas Investment, Mohammad Saleh Ahmed, chief executive officer of IIDFC, Md. Sohel Rahman, chief executive officer of ICB Capital Management, Md. Abu Barkar, chief executive officer of Southeast Bank Capital Services and Mohammed Ahsan Ullah, managing director of Grameen Capital Management.

However, the name of president, two vice-president, secretary general and treasurer are scheduled to be declared on December 31, 2017 among the new executive committee members which will continue their job during 2018-2019.

"The 11-member new members will elect president, two vice-presidents, secretary general and treasurer among the new EC members on December 31," Khiarul Basher Abu Taher Mohammad, chief executive officer of MTB Capital, who is also serving as the secretary general of the outgoing executive committee told the FE.

The BMBA started its journey in 1997. The total members are now 50. The BMBA is working for the development of capital market since its inception.
