The board of directors of BRAC Bank has appointed Tareq Refat Ullah Khan as the managing director and chief executive officer, effective from Tuesday, according to a press statement.
Mr. Khan had been serving as MD & CEO (current charge) since May 27.
In April, he was promoted to additional managing director and head of corporate and institutional banking in recognition of his leadership in driving innovation, business expansion, and organisational transformation.
Meheriar M. Hasan, chairperson of BRAC Bank, said, "Tareq is the right leader to take BRAC Bank into its next phase. His vision, integrity, and leadership will make the bank more trusted, innovative, and inclusive".
Mr. Khan joined BRAC Bank in 2017 as the head of credit risk management, bringing about three decades of experience in leading financial institutions including Eastern Bank, AB Bank, and IFIC Bank. His career has been marked by innovation and excellence, particularly in corporate & institutional banking, transaction banking and risk management.
He holds a B. Com from the University of Chittagong, an M. Com in marketing from the University of Dhaka, and an MBA.
He also completed credit risk assessment certification from the Omega Performance Corporation, UK, and is an alumnus of Cornell University, USA.
