BRAC Business School hosts 2nd ICCBM 2025

The event was aimed at encouraging students to join new enterprises with the help of AI

The 2nd International Case Conference on Business and Management (ICCBM) 2025 was held on Thursday at BRAC University in the city aiming to encourage students to join new enterprises with the help of AI (artificial intelligence).

Organised by BRAC Business School, the conference was dedicated to the memory of Sir Fazle Hasan Abed and themed "AI, Innovation and Sustainability: Rethinking Enterprise, Practice and Leadership in the Global South."

Kamran T. Rahman, chairman, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI), addressed the event as the chief guest. He in his speech inspired students of BRAC University with the memory of its visionary founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed.

He also said investing only in infrastructure and AI would help encourage investing in strengthening morals.

Prof Abdur Rab, Vice-Chancellor, International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), Syed Kaiser Kabir, CEO and Managing Director, Renata LTD, spoke as special guests.

They both shared their memories with Sir Fazle Hasan Abed as coworkers and recalled the journey of the enterprises he built.

Humanising Global Technology, Prof Syed Ferhat Anwar, Vice-Chancellor, BRAC University, Prof Mohammad Mujibul Haque, Dean, BRAC Business School (BBS), BRAC University hosted the event.

Shariar Pavel, global executive and thought leader, spoke as the keynote speaker. He highlighted the journey of modern devices, including smart mobile phones and use of artificial intelligence (AI). He said about 20 per cent of the world population use nine smart devices daily.

He described how a smart city can provide smart service. A smart city is a designation given to a city that incorporates information and communicator technologies (ICT) to enhance the quality and performance of urban services such as energy transportation and utilities in order to reduce resource consumption wastage and overall costs.

The presentation suggested leading the way in digitalisation by creating one of the most sustainable World Expos, startup accelerator programme.

The average annual growth of total GDP in the industrial era was about 1-2 per cent, the information age it was 3-4 per cent. In the era of artificial intelligence it would be 10 per cent, he added.

Through AI modeling and simulation, we can get rid of the social dependence on designers, pattern makers, fabric matchers, drafters, product visuals, flat models and other skilled people.

Giving examples of other developed countries, the keynote paper said that Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) helps improve the service for citizens.
