City Bank, AB Bank lead turnover chart

Top ten traded companies, including five banks, captured more than 33 per cent transaction of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Tuesday with City Bank topped the chart.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 11.77 billion on the day, which was more than 30 per cent higher than the previous day's Tk 9.03 billion. The banking sector grabbed 42 per cent of the day's total transaction.

The most active shares in terms of value included City Bank, AB Bank, Grameenphone, Dhaka Bank, ACI, Square Pharmaceuticals, Brac Bank, IDLC Finance, Shahjalal Bank and IFAD Autos.

According to statistics available with the DSE, about 10.17 million shares of City Bank were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 560 million, which was 4.75 per cent of the premier bourse's total turnover.

The bank's share price hovered between Tk 53.50 and Tk 56.40, before closing at Tk 54.90, advancing 2.42 per cent over the previous session.

AB Bank followed next, with shares of Tk 502 million changing hands. It was 4.26 per cent of the day's total turnover transaction. The bank's share price closed at Tk 23.90, gaining 1.27 per cent over the previous day.
