CHITTAGONG, Jan 22: Chittagong Stock Exchange is organising its sixth Capital Market and Investment Fair at the city's GEC Convention Centre. The three-day CSE Fair will start on February 1 and be concluded on February 3.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam B Sc and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, among other dignitaries and capital market experts, are scheduled to address different sessions of the fair.
Managing Director of the Chittagong Stock Exchange M Shaifur Rahman Majumder FCA, FCMA said the fair this year will practically involve all relevant aspects of the capital market aimed at enhancing awareness, learning, knowledge sharing and interaction among general investors, market intermediaries, market operators and the regulatory authority.
He said that all preparations including launching of massive campaign to attract the young investors from colleges, universities and other academic institutions and massive campaign through different media outlets have been taken to make the fair successful.
The brokerage houses, listed companies, banks and financial institutions will participate in the fair that will have 69 general stalls, eight mini pavilions and six pavilions.
At least two minimum general sessions for investors and new learners along with technical sessions on all three days will be held, the CSE MD said.
In reply to a query he said most CSE TREC holders are not active and professional in their broking business and the businesses are gradually being shifted to the professional and institutional organisations.
As a result, the investors are shifting their portfolios from a very few active single brokerage houses due to depth crisis in the CSE market. This is a policy matter, he said hoping for the development of a sustainable business model for the CSE after inclusion of the strategic partner.
