District-wise child budget from next fiscal yr: Azad

Principal Coordinator (SDG Affairs) of Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Md Abul Kalam Azad has said the government will give separate budgetary allocation for children of every district in the next fiscal year, reports BSS.

"In the past there was no district-wise allocation for children. Now there will be separate allocation for children of every district in the budget," he said.

The principal coordinator said there is no separate goal for children in the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) but the issue of children development, their rights and safety is included in every goal.

He was addressing a workshop on "Safety for Children to Attain sustainable development goals: Role of Mass Media" at the seminar room of National Theater Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the city.

Children Affairs Journalists Network (CAJN) and World Vision Bangladesh arranged the workshop.

Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad, Kendriyo Khelaghar Asar Presidium Member Dr Lelin Chowdhury, Channel I Senior News Editor Mir Masrur Jaman Rony, World Vision Deputy Director Sabira Sultana Nupur and media relations specialist Debashish Ranjan Sarker joined the panel discussion in the workshop.

CAJN President and BSS Special Correspondent Mahfuza Jasmine presided over the function while CAJN Vice-President and Channel I Special Correspondent Mostafa Kamal Mallik moderated it.
