CHATTOGRAM, Mar 05: Tailor's and fashion houses are now crowded with buyers in the port city as Eid ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of Muslims, is set to be observed at the end of Ramadan .

Tailors have submerged themselves completely in work, as they are flooded with receiving order for making clothes. More than 6,000 tailors are working day and night in Kholipha Potty area while the number of tailor's in Chattogram is more than 12,000.

Nazneen Akter Rekha, a teacher at Govt. Hazi Muhammad Mohsin College, said, "We gave orders before Ramadan. Now, we are collecting our dresses from the tailor's at different shopping malls." Housewife Asma Begum said, "We've placed some orders before Ramadan while we will give some more orders." Businessman Saifuddin Khaled said, "We have given orders for pants while we'll buy our shirts and panjabi off the peg."

Owner of Khawaja Tailors and Fabrics Shahed Selim said, "We stopped receiving orders before Ramadan. As we have almost a fixed number of customers, we are trying to satisfy them. Besides, we're making the dresses of some new customers who gave order before the holy month began."

General Secretary of Kholipha Potty Merchant Welfare Association Md. Imam Hossain said tailors and designers are swamped with work order at the moment. Jahangir Alam, a tailor working in Kholipha Potty, said, "Tailors are now fully occupied as we are working almost 20 hours a day. We are taking rest at our shops, as we don't have time to go home during Ramadan." Another tailor Asif Ikbal said, "As we want to earn more before Eid, we are working hard. We, the tailors, are trying to make Eid happy and colorful for people."
