Chairman of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Hafiz Md Hasan Babu resigned on Monday from the board of the premier bourse, showing personal reasons.
DSE officials said Mr. Babu sent an email bearing his resignation to the chairman of the securities regulator on Sunday night. A copy of the email was also sent to the DSE's company secretary and managing director (acting).
"Later, Mr. Babu on Monday sent a hard copy of his resignation letter to the DSE," said a DSE official.
After a change in the political regime, the DSE Brokers Association demanded the chairman's removal from the board.
The securities regulator appointed Babu as an independent director in February 2023. Later, he was deployed as chairman of the premier bourse for a period of four years.
