Duke of Edinburgh's Award Bangladesh celebrates 10 years

The 10 Years Celebration programme of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award was held at Gulshan Club in the city recently, a press release said.

The celebration programme was graced by the presence of State Minister for Youth and Sports-Md. Zahid Ahsan Russel MP as Chief Guest, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh- Robert Chatterton Dickson and Secretary General of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Foundation, Mr. John May also graced the programme respectively as Special Guest and Guest of Honor.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The DEA Foundation Bangladesh, Mr. A. K. Shamsuddin Khan; Ms. Lubna Choudhury, Mr. Sayeeful Islam, Mr. Mirza Salman Ispahani, Mr. Rizwan Bin Farouq from the Board of Trustees and members of Executive Committee of The DEA Foundation Bangladesh, and other distinguished guests were present.

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is a designed programme for developing the youth having an age group from 14-24. This programme acts as a discovery engine in building inner strength and sense to locate unthinkable measurement in self-development to achieve greatness and recognition, moreover to become the reason to youth empowerment.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Foundation Bangladesh marks 10 years of operation, a successful decade of promoting youth development in Bangladesh and recognizes following Award Units which pioneered and patronized the Award programme since its inception in Bangladesh from 2008 are American International University Bangladesh, Bangladesh International Tutorial, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Chittagong Grammar School, European Standard School, Independent University, Bangladesh, Ispahani Public School & College-Chittagong, Jahangirnagar University, Maple Leaf International School, Mastermind School, Oxford International School, Scholastica School, Sir John Wilson School, University of Dhaka.

Till date, so far 21,000 youths from 91 leading education institutions including the above mentioned Award Units has participated in the Award and the Board of Trustees of The DEA Foundation Bangladesh has pledged to work with Ministry of Youth and Sports to spread it all across the country.
