Finance and Commerce Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed said this at a meeting with the leaders of American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) at the commerce ministry on Wednesday.

He said in the last 16 years, no rules and regulations had been followed. The government was working to bring back discipline in every sector including law and order. It wanted to reduce unnecessary obstacles to trade and business, he added.

The chamber representatives sought introduction of cash incentives (cash assistance) in the case of digital payment in international trade. Besides, they also sought a time-befitting deferred payment system.

They leaders believe that cashless society will be created soon, if the government introduces cash incentives and modernizes the deferred payment system.

During the meeting they also emphasized ease of doing business, tariff reduction, better shipping facilities and removal of port complexity and traffic congestion.

Commerce Secretary Md Selim Uddin, AmCham President Syed Ershad Ahmed, members of the chamber Md. Moinul Huq and Rubaba Dowla, among others, were present in the meeting.
