ICAB and ICAEW presidents discuss future collaboration

ICAB President Maria Howlader called on ICAEW President Malcolm Bacchus on the sidelines of the SAFA events in New Delhi, India, recently.
Maria Howlader, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), met with Malcolm Bacchus, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW), on the sidelines of the SAFA events at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi, India, recently.
The two institutions have a long-standing partnership, having worked together in the field of education and professional development, says a statement.
Since 2009, ICAB and ICAEW have maintained a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for mutual collaboration and membership pathways. During the meeting, both leaders agreed to renew the MoU upon its expiration later this year.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed some professional and technical issues such as the use of technology, especially AI, audit software, implementation of sustainability reporting, quality assurance, education and examinations.
The ICAEW President expressed his willingness to work together on these issues moving forward.
Mr Bacchus also requested the ICAB President to provide a detailed proposition on these matters soon so both institutions could engage in further discussions aimed at achieving more effective outcomes.
The meeting was attended by ICAB Council Members and Past Presidents Nasir Uddin Ahmed and Md Moniruzzaman, Chief Operating Officer of ICAB Mahbub Ahmed Siddique, as well as Daniel Westley, Senior International Business Development Manager at ICAEW.
