Indian stocks rise in global relief rally

January 08, 2019 00:00:00

Indian shares rose on Monday along with global markets as upbeat US data, a more dovish tone by the Federal Reserve, and the start of Sino-US trade talks soothed investor nerves about a slowing global economy, reports Reuters.

The benchmark BSE index closed the session 0.43 per cent higher at 35,850.16, while the broader NSE index ended up 0.41 per cent at 10,771.80.

Bharti Infratel Ltd was the biggest gainer on the NSE index with a rise of 3.1 per cent.

An earlier report adds: Indian shares traded higher on Monday, reflecting relief witnessed in broader markets, after jitters about a global economic slowdown were pacified by strong US jobs data and a dovish tone by the Federal Reserve.
