MA Khan Belal has been elected chairman of the Board of Directors of Mercantile Bank PLC at the bank's 490th board meeting held at its head office in Dhaka on Thursday.
Prior to his election, he served as the chairman of the Executive Committee of the bank, says a press statement.
With extensive experience across trade, industry, shipping, and banking, Mr Belal has established various successful companies in Bangladesh and currently serves as the chairman of Samrat Group of Companies.
He is also the President of Noakhali Zila Samiti.
Beyond his business ventures, he is highly recognised for his benevolent contribution to society through various social welfare initiatives, education, healthcare and social development activities.
