Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) organised an event "Remembering Syed Manzur Elahi" last Wednesday at the Samson H. Chowdhury Auditorium, MTB Tower, in remembrance of its founding chairman.
Syed Manzur Elahi (February 26, 1942 - March 12, 2025) was a visionary entrepreneur, respected industrialist, and a statesman.
He established Apex Tannery in 1976 and founded Apex Footwear Ltd. and Grey Advertising (Bangladesh) Ltd. He served twice as an adviser to the caretaker government of Bangladesh.
He played a pivotal role in founding MTB in 1999. He also made significant contribution to education and social development through East West University and Manusher Jonno Foundation, according to a press statement. His lifelong dedication to ethics, excellence, and public service earned him multiple prestigious awards.
The programme was graced by his family members, the bank's board of directors, senior management team, employees, and well-wishers.
The programme began with a welcome note and opening remarks by MTB Managing Director & CEO Syed Mahbubur Rahman.
Later in the programme, board members, senior management, family, and close friends shared their memories and paid heartfelt tributes.
MTB Chairman Rashed Ahmed Chowdhury delivered the closing remarks, reflecting on Syed Manzur Elahi's legacy of vision, integrity, patriotism, and service. He fondly recalled their long-standing partnership in establishing MTB and reaffirmed the bank's commitment to upholding his values.
The event concluded with a prayer for the salvation of the departed soul of Late Syed Manzur Elahi.
