New BADC chief visits projects

BADC Chairman Md Azizul Islam visited Krishnapur in Manikganj recently to inspect a solar-powered low-lift pump installed under the 'Greater Dhaka Irrigation Area Development' project.
Newly appointed Chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) Md Azizul Islam has recently visited various field activities after assuming office on February 8.
The chairman visited BADC's vapour heat treatment project at Gabtoli in Dhaka, inspected an under-construction prefabricated fertiliser warehouse and observed fertiliser loading and unloading activities at Aminbazar on February 21, says a press statement.
During the visit, he directed authorities to complete the construction of the warehouse within the stipulated timeframe to facilitate storage of fertilisres and ensure timely transportation of fertilisers to depots across the country.
Later, the BADC chairman also inspected a solar-powered low-lift pump installed at Krishnapur in Manikganj sadar under the 'Greater Dhaka Irrigation Area Development' project, and the re-excavated Chaprail canal in Jamitta union
While exchanging views with local farmers, he said canal re-excavation initiatives would be undertaken gradually across the country to expand irrigation facilities, ensuring proper canal selection with priority given to beneficiary farmers' interests.
Member directors, project directors and other BADC officials were present during his visits.
