Luna Shamsuddoha joins Janata Bank as chairman

Luna Shamsuddoha joined Janata Bank Limited as Chairman on Wednesday. She was a member of the Board of the Bank since June 2016. She is a software entrepreneur, Chairman of Dohatec New Media since 1992 and Managing Director of Global Voice Telecommunications Ltd. Dohatec was involved in the development of voter enrolment solution in 2007-2008. Her firm developed several e-Governance Project and also developed the electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System. She has Masters in International Relations and started working as lecturer at the Institute of Modern Language at Dhaka University.— Statement

Lafarge Surma now LafargeHolcim Bangladesh

Lafarge Surma Cement is now LafargeHolcim Bangladesh with effect from today (Thursday) as the DSE board has approved the change of name and trading code of the company. The trading code for the company was also changed to "LHBL" from "LAFSURCEML". "Other things of the company (except name and trading code) will remain unchanged," said a disclosure posted on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) website on Wednesday. On December 23, last year, the Lafarge Surma Cement approved the acquisition of Holcim Bangladesh for around Tk 5.05 billion, a price that was set by the central bank. The Bangladesh Bank (BB) set the acquisition price is Tk 5.05 billion of Holcim in line with the international valuation method. Lafarge Surma Cement got listed in 2003 with the local stock exchanges. — FE Report
